James
Briggs.
Software engineer who builds things people actually use — from apps on the App Store to tools that cut CO₂ on every commute.
About me
Builder. Problem solver.
First-class grad.
Hi, I'm James — a software engineer from Sheffield who just graduated with a First Class BEng in Software Engineering from Sheffield Hallam University in 2026.
I love building things that solve real problems. From an allergy scanner on the App Store to Atlas, an eco-friendly travel app that makes public transport the obvious choice, my work focuses on apps people actually reach for.
I've shipped production Flutter apps to iOS, built desktop tooling in C# and WPF for a real client, and built an end-to-end travel optimisation system for my final year project.
I'm actively looking for graduate software engineering roles where I can keep building things that matter.

Integrations
BEng Software Engineering — First Class
Sheffield Hallam University. Final-year project: Atlas, a sustainable travel app using live TransportAPI + Google Maps data.
Kerridge Commercial Systems
Built a vehicle load optimisation desktop tool in C#/WPF, working directly with engineers through the full SDLC.
Allergy Scanner — App Store
Designed, built and shipped a Flutter + Firebase app through TestFlight to the iOS App Store.

What I've built
Atlas
Type in where you want to go and Atlas finds the best way to get there on public transport — with live arrival times, multiple route options, and a CO₂ comparison against driving. Built to make the sustainable choice the obvious one.
Allergy Scanner
Live on App StorePoint your camera at any ingredient list and the app instantly flags allergens. OCR scanning, personal allergy history, voice search, and push notification reminders — built and shipped to iOS via TestFlight.
App Store ↗Kerridge Load Optimiser
ShippedDesktop tool for Kerridge Commercial Systems visualising vehicle loading efficiency — layered 2D views, performance zones, and rule-based stacking logic accounting for weight and height constraints.
Let's build something great together.
I'm looking for graduate software engineering roles — mobile, full-stack, or anything challenging. Get in touch and let's chat.
